Ok, now let's talk movies. What I want to know here is your vote for your top three best movies of all time.
Remember, even if you love a movie, try to think about it more objectively. Let's say, for example, that Date Movie is your favorite movie of all time. Most would agree that Date Movie should not be on an all time best list. You can do one of two things. Either admit that even though you like it, it cannot rank with the best movies you've ever seen, or, be bold, make an argument for why it is among the best. That would mean looking at the structure, writing, comedy, timing, filming, capturing of current social themes, or any other categories you want to find to argue why it should be considered. Believe me, if you want to make an argument, you can find reasons to support it (and then we may find reasons why you are wrong, too.).
So, here my list, in no particular order: Apocalypse Now, Godfather (1 and 2, but that just counts as one, right, since I can't pick between them...and no, don't even think of throwing 3 in there), and Chinatown.
This is really tough though, because I love the following movies and want to put them on the list: Rocky, Valley Girl(go see this now!), Star Wars (I saw it nine times the year it came out...do people still do that?), Amelie, Fitzcarraldo, the Official Story, A Very Long Engagement, and Belle Epoque.
But the truth is, as much as I enjoyed them, they don't quite make it!
Can we separate our enjoyment from our judgment? We must.
What are your nominees and, more importantly, why?
I have to preface this weeks blog entry by saying it was by far the most difficult for me. I am not a fan of movies. I know this sounds ridiculous, un-American even, but I rarely watch movies. That being said, I suppose my choices for my top 3 movies are narrowed down by default, and so I shall begin.
ReplyDeleteIn no particular order, my “all-time” favorite movies are: American Beauty, The Birds, and E.T.- The Extraterrestrial. Coming from all genres, my favorites all offer something different that speaks to a part of me.
I chose American Beauty because I think it’s a cinematic masterpiece that is both chilling and comforting in it’s realistic portrayal of the modern (dysfunctional) American family. I am also quite fond of Kevin Spacey. The movie is not something you watch lightly with a jug of Mountain Dew and a bag of popcorn, however. American Beauty is touching and deep. It’s realism sure to make you uncomfortable as you question the characters and their motives.
The Birds is Mr. Hitchcock at his best. From the setting, to the costumes, to the classically beautiful Tippi Hedren, this movie makes me want to run away to Northern California despite the hoards of man-eating birds. I feel a strange peace when I watch this movie that I've never been able to fully explain.
E.T. earned its place in my top 3 because, simply, it reminds me of being a child. As a child, I watched this movie with my brother over and over, never growing tired of the overt product placement (Reese’s pieces), or the semi-annoying speech impediment Drew Barrymore offered. Unable to fully separate fact from fiction as a child, I thought it entirely possible a long-fingered alien could become my playmate.
My choices might not hold up against Citizen Kane or Casablanca, but to me, they are worthy of a shelf full of Oscars.
I know this is an old person thing to say, but I wish more people under 30 still had the patience for movies like the Birds or other oldies...they move so incredibly slow compared to movies today (there is a formula in Hollywood for this, for how much movement you have to have on screen to attract the modern audience), but in many cases the stories were more compelling in those older movies.
DeleteAmerican Beauty such a crazy movie i liked it the first time I watched it do recommend.
DeleteDr. Schmoll,
DeleteI am only 25, but I do enjoy the movie Birds, I was forced to watch it in my 9th grade English class but really enjoyed, in a bizzare way. I actually re-watched again with my much younger sister, because me and my brother mention it all the time, because we live in Delano, and by the freeway overpass, there are literally thousands of crows and always think of that movie.
I am not sure I have seen American Beauty and I also grew up watching E.T., but...
ReplyDeleteThe Birds. I do enjoy my black and white films, but I would have to say my favorite Hitchcock movie would have to be Psycho. I do understand that taking something that we see as so harmless turning into something to fear makes people think (creating a very interesting phobia), but I do find the human mind to be far more puzzling. The triggers of the human mind is definitely a scary thought over birds.
I just thought of something... Has anyone seen the television series called Bates Motel? Reason I ask is because the motel in Psycho was also called The Bates Motel. I have not watched the television series, but I wonder if there is any connection.
My favorite Hitchcock movie(s) would be "North by Northwest" and "Rear Window"
DeleteI had to "google" it because it would be on my mind all night and there is a connection to Psycho. In Psycho, the man was named Norman Bates and the boy in Bates Motel is named Norman Bates. I answered my own question, sorry.
ReplyDeleteI will let you know that many people do not know or have never seen some of my favorite movies. I am very much into classics and "awful" musicals. I wanted to attend the Turner Classic Film Festival for a weekend (the film festival is currently ongoing until May 31st in Hollywood), I have been on the set of Casablanca (it is located at the Time Warner Studio & is still used in television shows), and I saw Phantom of the Opera in Las Vegas (it was one of the best experiences I have had, so far). I do enjoy films, but mainly older films; the "cheesy" stuff.
ReplyDelete12 Angry Men (1957)
For many that have seen this film, 12 Angry Men is absolutely the worst movie they have ever watched and they never want to watch it again. I, on the other hand, quite enjoy this film. My best friend brought this movie over to watch; she fell asleep while I sat there looking like a child watching Saturday morning cartoons. Here is the storyline:
A young man, who is Spanish-American (lower class & criminal record), is accused of murdering his father and is given a trial. We have 12 jurors (all male, white, middle-aged, middle-class) who must decide the fate of this young man; set him free or send him to the electric chair. The jurors wish to decide as fast as possible with no discussion about the trial. The decision has to unanimous; 11 men vote guilty and 1 votes not guilty. Juror #8 believes that this teenage boy deserves for the jurors to question the events leading up to the boy murdering his father. Throughout this film the jurors all have biases and prejudices; one juror does not like Hispanics, another juror was harmed by his own son, some do not care whether the boy lives or dies, etc. In the end, after questioning every piece of evidence against the boy, the jurors (one by one, some switching back and forth) all find the boy not guilty.
Through this entire movie, we see nothing but 12 men (these men are numbered and not named) in a locked room who argue (hint: 12 Angry Men), but this movie is so much deeper than just men arguing. We see 12 men who each have personalities, weaknesses, cultural differences, anger, judgment that is unreliable, impatient, fears, ignorance, and indifferences; would you want these men to decide if you got the electric chair or not? This on my list because I find the human mind, like I told one of my classmates earlier, highly interesting. It is interesting to see how man can easily pass judgment without knowing the person, how easy it is for some to condemn another, the ease to decide something and not have a reason, the capability to reason, and how the mind can be influenced. (Whether or not the jurors made the right choice or made a mistake does not seem like the point of this film, in my opinion.)
Cover Girl (1944)
I honestly have to say I chose this one because of Gene Kelley... What can I say... I like Gene Kelley...
One of my favorite parts is 1:34:00 - 1:37:50 and you can watch this film in Technicolor on YouTube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfgX6yD8a78
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Do I really have to explain?
Tim Curry in drag...
The Time Warp dance...
Transsexual transvesdites.
Creepy and funny.
Complexity of human emotions.
I have gone to many Rocky Horror Picture Shows around Halloween time and I love participating. I like seeing people put on the dramatic makeup and costumes, seeing young adults reenacting scenes while the movie is on the big screen at the Fox Theatre, watching "virgins" getting a red "V" written on their body with red lipstick, throwing toilet paper, shouting out rude comments, and enjoying something out of our normal day lives.
Some of my other favorites:
Grease (1st not 2nd), Benny & Joon, Some Like it Hot, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Shining, Psycho, Cry-Baby, and many more.
Good list...what is the meaning of the toast in Rocky Horror? Isn't there are part when you throw toast? I have never been to see it...I have seen it on tv, but it's not the same as being there, I know.
DeleteWhat's Eating Gilbert Grape and The Shining are such good movies like them too.
DeleteI've not had the pleasure of seeing Rocky Horror either live or the movie...I have of course seen snippets, and do know it has a cult-like following, but it doesn't really appeal to me. Cry-Baby, however.....I am with you on that Miranda! I loved that movie so much as a kid, but haven't seen it in years. Funny though, I can still name all of the characters, and certain portions of dialogue I still have committed to memory.
DeleteIt does have a cult-like following, but it is starting to die down. I actually think they are no longer going to be putting on the show (at least in Bakersfield). It is a fun experience even if it does not appeal to you.
DeleteTake my dad for example:
My father grew up in a western cowboy kind of family; bull-riding at rodeos, horseback riding, hunting...anything that is "redneck". I also grew up around these activities, but I guess the point is, is that his attitude towards seeing Rocky Horror Picture Show...was terrible. It felt like we literally had to drag his body into the theatre. At first he did everything to not have fun, but he ended up having more fun than me.
It was like watching a grown man having fun like a kid.
My father also "hates" Cry-Baby.
My dad: "This has to be the dumbest movie ever. I can't believe you watch this crap."
(I look over and he is totally into it. He cannot walk away.)
Me: "Yep."
Liliana-
DeleteI almost got to go to the hotel they used for The Shining this past summer, but we didn't get the time. It is called The Timberline Lodge and is located on Mt. Hood. I am moving to Portland, Oregon soon and it is 50 miles outside of Portland so I am hoping I will get to visit when I get settled.
I can see myself walking around the lodge talking with my finger. ("REDRUM")
Dr. Schmoll-
DeleteIt is just to make the show interesting, more comical, and creates more participation.
Example: There is a scene where Dr. Scott rolls into the laboratory and Brad yells, "Great Scott!"
Everyone starts throwing toilet paper because there is a brand of toilet paper called Scotts.
I do not know if they will be doing the show this year, but it is a must-do (at least once).
Jentri,
DeleteYou have to go to a Rocky Horror Picture show back east where they lock you in and let you bring a bag of rice, newspapers a couple of rolls of toilet paper and a spritzer bottle of water.
We had to watch "What's eating Gilbert Grape' in my child psychology class. In class we made a much more closer analysis of what would compel someone to behave in that manner etc. It is an extremely well made movie!

ReplyDeleteI like this week's blog question. I love talking about the stories within movies. I can tear a movie apart! I have so many movies I would love to put down which sadly I cannot since we were asked to really think. It is because of these circumstances that I would have to say that perhaps my top three movies are Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, What Dreams May Come, and Remember the Titans.
ReplyDeleteLet me begin by saying that I do not like Pirates of the Caribbean because of it's actors. Before I saw the movie I honestly did not know who Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, or anyone else in that movie was. What I love about it is the characters the actors portrayed, and of course my favorite character would have to be Jack Sparrow. I love that man! He's so fascinating to me. I had to watch the movie multiple times, not that I minded, before I was able to fully grasp his personality. He was a pirate, a scoundrel, a good-for-nothing thief, but all of these were terms others labeled him with. In reality Jack is a very caring, loyal, intelligent, person who just happened to enjoy the fame and freedom that came with being a pirate. Yes he was interested in treasure, but never once did I see Jack harm the innocent or double cross someone who didn't deserve it. Even when it seemed as if Jack had turned his back on his friends, it was always part of his plan and he would turn around and do the right thing. The plot and lay out of the movies were really amazing as well. I've heard a lot of people say that they didn't like the second and third movies because they didn't seem to go along with the first movie but if a person pays close enough attention they'll realize that the movies in fact are all part of the same story, one that happened to be told in a set of 3. Every movie, except for the fourth which I liked yet didn't like at the same time, are intertwined with one another.
What Dreams May Come is a favorite movie of mine because of the complexity of the plot. It tells the story of a man and wife who after losing their two children, must turn to each other for support in order to live and of how, when the husband dies, must find a way to continue supporting his wife from beyond the grave. The movie is all about bonds and connections. Through the strong love the husband had for his children he is able to find his children in heaven and ultimately save his wife after she was committed suicide and is living in "hell". It's also somewhat of a mind bender. After his dead, the husband spends most of his time traveling from heaven to a scenery his wife is painting. He is actually living in one of her paintings and can see what is happening to her through this painting. It's a really weird and cool movie.
My last pick is Remember the Titans. I believe it is one of the best movies of all time because of the issues it deals with. Remember the Titans tells the story of a town divided by color and of how one coach, a colored man they call Coach Boone, manages to bring is segregated football team together and unite the town. It's such a moving movie. I cannot watch it without feeling a surge of emotion. The scene where he takes the team to Gettysburg is by far the most moving. This is when the team must "listen and take a lesson from the dead" in order to learn to play together. So moving! I love how so many issues were brought forth through a movie about football. It was about race and acceptance, about how in reality were not so different, about how coming together with people you would never have dreamed of joining hands with could bring miracles, and about so much more. Truly a fantastic movie.
Remember the Titans, yes that movie was great! Sent a great message out that blacks and whites can, in fact, come together to accomplish whatever they set their minds to.
DeleteI too enjoy What Dreams May Come. You dont normally see Robin Williams in a dramatic role but he did very well in this movie. The story itself is also very interesting and has some weird twist. Something I will watch from time to time.
DeleteRemember the Titans is a great one! I didn't even think about that one when I was thinking of mine, but it's a great choice!
DeleteThe top three movies I truly enjoy and will continue to watch are Scarface, Goodfellas, and Blood and Blood Out. I love these movies because of the action it contains and their classics.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, Scarface a 1983 classic film about Cubans in Miami, Florida developing and dealing in a drug war. This contains drama, action, crime, drugs, and the struggles of operating a drug business and, how it affects ones family. Al Pacino a great actor who is the main character (Tony Montana) does such a great job acting out the life of a Cuban drug cartel who goes from rags to riches. Having many problems with his family due to his drug habits and dealing suddenly his life takes a turn for the worse. His baby sister marries his best friend and Tony does not approve and kills his best friend who was his business partner at the same time, shortly before that his wife decides to leave him. Later, that day after he shoots his new brother in law his home gets raided and he gets killed.
This movie highlights how world wide we still struggle with drug cartels and violence.
Goofellas is a 1990 classic film about Italian and Irish Americans in Brooklyn, New York dealing with gangs. The film contains drama, crime, action, and gangs. This film is about a young man who drops out school and dreams about being a gangster. He joins the mob and begins to make a living for himself. The film is about robbery and killings of different mobs then later turn against each other due to envy.
Blood and Blood Out is the last film I can think of which was a 1993 film about Chicanos living a life in East Los Angeles, CA. This film contains action, crime, drama, and dug dealing. This film is about a group of Chicano gangs that compete about being in certain territories around LA. The crew they are associated with is “Vatos Locos” and they treat each other as family. When they have a fall out with another gang and one the guys gets beat up and becomes disabled. Later Miklo one of the brothers of the gang get incarcerated and gets involve in drug dealing inside the prison and kills a few men to get his way. Miklo gets out of prison and his cousin who became a cop after leaving the gang shoots him and returns back to prison during robbery.
I love these movies so much because the films give a person a view how a life of dealing with drugs can suddenly collapsed and ruin a family due to greed. These movies are thought to be the best for me because, the reality is that we still have these issues going on about drug wars and greed for money.
Liliana--
DeleteI've not seen any of the 3 on your list, but I notice that all of your choices come from the same genre. I like how you explained your love of the genre, and by your descriptions, I just might have to watch one. If I only watched one, which would you recommend as a "must see?"
I have not seen any of these movies, as well. Two movies I enjoy that are similar to your list would be Gangs of New York and The Boondock Saints.
DeleteJentri, I would definitely recommend Scarface. I think that is my favorite and has a lot of action.
DeleteMiranda, ive heard about Gangs of New York but have not seen it.
Goodfellas. Ahh.....What a movie. This movie had the suits down and perfect. Even how you could wear the pullover sport shirt with slacks and a jacket. Excellent choice.
DeleteBlood in and blood out...it's a sad movie from my perspective...
DeleteAt least I always get sad when I see it
Scarface is on my favorites list as well. If the other two are like Scarface I'm sure I'd like them. Ill have to look into them.
DeleteGoodfellas is such a good movie. I can literally watch that movie and never get tired of seeing it.
DeleteThis weeks blog assignment comes very easy for me to write about. If we are going to talk movies then I would have to say that my list of three would be the three greatest of all time from the perspective of a thinker such as myself. The Godfather original, The Ten Commandments (Charlton Heston), and the movies of John Wayne, thees would be my choices to discuss here. The first choice The Godfather, is one of the best movies ever made for audiences to view. One of the biggest secrets of this movie is that it should be watched while you are alone and free from any distractions or disturbances. I could not come to appreciate this movie until I had to opportunity to watch it without anyone else around to disturb me. It is not just a mob film, it is a story of an American Tragedy and a telling of real choices that had to be made by real men and women during that time. The second thing that you really do not get to understand about this movie until you watch it alone, is that it is about relationships. Those of Father, Mother, Son, Sister, Familial and outsiders. It is also Biblical in a sense that the "prodigal-son" returns home from the world and is received by his Father with more fanfare and displayed love than the son whom remained home and tended to the family business. I do not believe another movie can come along in such a fashion and tell a story of equal importance to the American psyche as the Godfather. Relationships today are no where near the way they used to be during the telling of this epic.
ReplyDeleteThe second movie in my list is The Ten Commandments(Original). This movie was the one everyone flocked to the theaters to see and even when I was a ore-teen people still took the time to watch this movie every time it came on television. This was a major motion picture with the huge named stars of the day playing both leading and supporting roles. The colors that came across the screen were unbelievable for its time. I believe this movie, was the first time the studios such millions into making a movie telling the story of the bible's Hebrew nation and the relationship between Moses and God and that of the people that would follow God's instructions and those that would not. For the Christian West, this was a remarkable feat. Early on the studio that made the film did not think that they would break even on it. Even in syndication on television, this movie made hundreds of millions of dollars from sponsors advertising during its showing.
My final choice is The Usual Suspect starring Kevin Spacey. Many of you will not know this movie, but should take a little time to watch it. It is the story of a criminal mastermind that understood his relationship to what he does and not to his family. This is a man committed to succeeding in his chosen field. He builds needed relationships to cover his interests in his criminal enterprises and also creates a relationship with himself to not only become another person but a different personality both mentally and physically. This is truly one for the psychiatrists and head doctors to chew on. The intelligence and quick mindedness of the main character to make up a life long story son intertwined with reality all in a few moments while being interviewed / interrogated by a police detective in the detective's own office is utterly amazing. The audience is so entranced by Spacey's role that they gasp at the very end of the movie when the truth is revealed and they realize that Verbal Kent(Spacey) is really both Verbal Kent and Kaiser Souza'. Some of you will argue that this last movie should not be in the list. But I dare say to you to watch the movie and then decide......
I love The Ten Commandments! I can remember watching it every Easter with my family when it was on TV.
DeleteWhat I want to know here is your vote for your top three best movies of all time.
ReplyDeleteWhat are your nominees and, more importantly, why?
Making this list is very hard for me, mainly, because I only watch movies when I’m bored…
So here’s the list:
1. The Skin I Live In (Spanish: La piel que habito) is a 2011 Spanish psychological thriller film written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar, starring Antonio Banderas, Elena Anaya, Marisa Paredes, Jan Cornet, and Roberto Álamo. The Skin I Live In (Spanish: La piel que habito) is a 2011 Spanish psychological thriller film written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar, starring Antonio Banderas…(taken from Wiki)
2. A Walk to Remember is a 2002 American coming-of-age teen romantic drama film based on the 1999 romance novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks. (taken from Wiki)
I just adore this movie; I cry every time I see it. It’s just so, so good!
3. Freedom Writers is a 2007 drama film starring Academy Award winner Hilary Swank, Scott Glenn, Imelda Staunton and Patrick Dempsey.(taken from Wiki) & Stand and Deliver is a 1988 American drama film based on the true story of high school math teacher Jaime Escalante. Edward James Olmos portrayed Escalante in the film and received a nomination for Best Actor at the 61st Academy Awards.[1] (taken from Wiki)
These films motivate me to be an awesome teacher some day!
A Walk to Remember is my all time favorite!!!!
DeleteI love A Walk to Remember as well! Great movie.
DeleteA Walk to Remember is definitely one of my favorite movies. It is so inspiring and I remember when I first rented that movie I watched it three times back to back because I loved it so much.
DeleteThanks!
DeleteI think I might get some flack for this list...in no particular order:
ReplyDelete1: God Bless America (2011)
Less a movie in the traditional sense and more a critique of all of the worst aspects of American culture, with a heaping dose of meta self-deprecation and criticism of those who seem to enjoy criticism, as well as their own inability to do any better themselves. Low budget, preachy, a series of rants... these critiques of the film may have merit, but better than any other piece of culture that I have come across, God Bless America puts every nasty bit of American culture under bright and honest florescent lights, right in front of your face. Brutally honest.
2: The Departed (2006)
This film is the peak of the gangster movie genre, and is just as accessible to anyone not familiar with the canon. Scorsese tops himself here, building on the foundations that so many talented directors (including Scorsese himself)have worked so hard to create.
3: Trainspotting (1996)
The source of the quintessential dorm room poster, Trainspotting deserves a place on this list because it is one of the few movies that have been able to completely defy any kind of genre classification without sacrifices. This film is not a Jack-of-all-trades, master of none; it is comedic, dramatic, tragic, and riveting all at once without any of these elements suffering because of the existence of the others. Perfect musical scores and cinematography, suburb casting, acting, and directing. Brutally honest.
The Departed is an absolute classic and would probably be my number four if I had one.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteBreakfast Club (1985) is a collision of today’s modern society and the emotional struggles of the American teen. Five high school students meet accidentally in detention and realize that they have more in common than they would ever think. This movie put a spin on all of the classical struggles students go through in a stereotypical school setting. I absolutely love this movie because of the depictions that it gives all the different types of people that you encounter when you enter a school campus. Student-life passes so quickly that people forget to sit down and appreciate people’s true personalities and to take the time to get to know one another for who they really are.
ReplyDeleteCatch me if you can (2002) is a 20th century classic. This movie was based off a true story where a very intelligent young man (Frank Abagnale) successfully cons his way into becoming a genius fraud. He was infamous for committing check fraud. Eventually, he is able to convince the public that he is a prosecutor, a doctor, a professor, as well as an esteemed pilot. My first time watching this film, my reaction was priceless. It was mind blowing. I was captivated in his strategic escapades. A mastermind; he was able to replicate files that people dedicate their lives to earn. He was able to accomplish something that I had never imagined anyone could. To say the least, definitely one of top 3 picks with raving reviews by me.
Time Travelers wife (2009). Wow, this movie is absolutely breathtaking. Aside from the fact that I love Rachel McAdams, the story line kept me hooked with every single line they spoke. This is a wonderful love story that is centered on a man who is born with a unique talent: to travel through time. Though only one person is able to understand his secret, he is still able to live a relatively normal lifestyle. One of the most interesting things about this story line is that the female lead actually meets different versions of the male lead. Because he confides his heart and soul into her, she is able to know essentially the past, present and future. The plot is mesmerizing, and the love story is flawless. The scenery in the film adds to the emotion that the setting portrays. Definitely one of the best films I have ever seen without a doubt. I could watch it over and over again, and never be sick of what I’m watching.
The Breakfast club would have been my 4th favorite film. The way almost any teenager, from any generation can relate to the story line is what makes this movie so great.
DeleteThe Breakfast Club is one of my favorites as well. I have the Brat Pack Collection:
DeleteThe Breakfast Club
Weird Science
16 Candles
Good movies.
I picked Breakfast Club as my second favorite. Miranda all three movies are great. In my opinion the 80's had some of the best movies and music.
DeleteReally good choices I likes those a lot.
DeletePicking three of my top movies is quite difficult because I love a lot of movies. That’s all I do on my free time; watch movies. My top three movies will be "A Walk to Remember", "Matilda" and "Two Can Play That Game". These are not in any particular order.
ReplyDelete1. "A Walk to Remember" is based on a novel written by one of my favorite authors, Nicholas Sparks. The movie is about a young Christian girl and a rebel boy who fall in love despite their different lifestyles. I chose this movie because it showed how different people, from different lifestyles and backgrounds can come together and share one of the most strongest feeling. Love. The other reason I like it is because it’s a really cute love story and it had a great story line.
2. "Matilda" was about a little girl born into a family that only thought of themselves. She had to grow up and mature into a woman when she was just a little girl. She always knew that she was different from the rest of her family. As Matilda was growing up she realized that she had special powers and she only did good deeds with it, well, most of the time. At the end, she finds a mother/guardian that showed her the love and care that she was longing for. This movie showed that just because Matilda was raised in a family that did not show her the love and care, that circumstance did not prevent her from showing that love and care to others. She looked at the positive side of things and in life and that’s just what we need to do at times. Not to make what we've gone through stop us from being who we are meant to be.
3. "Two Can Play that Game" with Vivica Fox and Morris Chestnut was just funny. The message of the movie is that love does not go by rules and commands. One person's love cannot be compared to the next. Love follows its own path and if you try to mess with it, you'll probably end up played at the end. I think I've watched this movie over twenty times and I never get tired of it
I do enjoy watching Matilda it's a good movie no matter what age you are. I reminds me alot of my childhood. It makes you think if theres parents that treat their children that way.
DeleteI love your top two movies! I haven't watched the last one but given your good taste ;) I am definitely going to look into it!
DeleteFinally a subject I love to talk about! Movies are definitely one of favorite pass times and something I really enjoy. This was difficult but for my pick of the best three movies of all time I would have to say Star Wars Episode IV, although episode III is becoming one of my favorites, Somewhere In Time, and My Fair Lady. When I was trying to decide on just three i couldn't help but agree with the statement mentioned in the blog. It is very difficult to separate our enjoyment when trying to look at these movies objectively. My first pick Star Wars is of course a classic, because come on, who doesn't love Star Wars? This story not only captures you and takes you into a different world but also has a unique twist that makes it interesting. This story and characters will resonate with generations for many more years to come. My second pick Somewhere in Time stars my two favorite actors Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. Many probably have not seen this movie but if possible they should! This is a wonderful romantic movie which I'm sure can be classified as a chick flick. It is very entertaining and has a very different ending that many would not expect. My third choice is My Fair Lady which is by far one of the best musicals. Staring Audrey Hepburn who is magnificent in her poor girl role turn proper. I don't care for most musicals but I absolutely love the music in this movie as well as the story line. Im sure major movie critics probably wouldn't agree with my choices but thats because I had a hard time separating my objective view from how much I love these movies for their pure enjoyment. I don't think its really possible to pick only three movies since there are so many great things to enjoy in a movie. However, I would definitely recommend these three if you have not seen them yet!
ReplyDeleteMy list of top three movies would be:
ReplyDelete1) Django Unchained
Django Unchained is a absolutely fantastic Quentin Tarantino movie that was released in late 2012. I chose this movie for a few reasons. First, the twisted plot of a freed slave who treks across the United States with a bounty for the cruel plantation owner who owns his wife is absolutely genius. This, combined with the brilliant acting of Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, and especially Christoph Waltz made me leave the movie theater with the urge to walk back in and see it again. Django Unchained also has a type of over-dramatic and maybe a bit graphic action that Tarantino is so well-known for which keeps the viewer on edge.
2) Inception
As you can see, there is somewhat of a Leo-theme going on here, but it is much more than the acting that makes this movie so great. Inception has the type of plot such that if you do not pay attention for 30 seconds you could miss out on the whole movie. The idea of entering dreams, and then entering dreams in dreams is a quite a concept yet it is one that at one point in time we have all thought of. The ability to begin to control and manipulate your dreams opens the door to many options but director Christopher Nolan absolutely nailed it. Every second of this intense science fiction thriller forces the viewer to think and decipher what exactly is happening every 10 minutes. This is an absolute classic.
3) Fight Club
Fight club is a movie based on an insomniac who is looking for a way to change his life when he crosses paths with a soap maker who then form an underground fight club that evolves into something bigger than they planned. Director David Fincher does a great job of creating a plot in which the two main characters are both brought together under strange circumstances and begin this almost cultic lifestyle while running the fight club. Finally, this movie has the one of the most incredible twists for an ending which, if you haven’t seen it I won’t spoil it.
Okay for the sake of the movie you chose Django, I will say this. I thought Django was a fantastic movie. There are not many movies out that show an ex-slave going out and killing his once oppressors. I actually had the urge to see it again right after we saw it and we did LOL. I was amused with the theme of the whole movie.
DeleteMy list:
ReplyDelete1. Stand and Deliver
This movie is my all time favorite for a variety of reasons, and I believe it deserves to be considered with some of the greats as well. The story focuses and the main character Jaime Escalante, who left his job, where he was a well paid employee to become a teacher, after he see's the youth in his neighborhood (East L.A.) are lacking in education. The fact that he teaches math which is the field I will be teaching, and the way he see's that his students will rise to his expectations is very motivating. Also the movie is gripping and engaging when after they pass their Calculus Exams, their tests are questioned by the education board, for such high grades for a poor school. Ultimately, his students retake the test and pass again with high scores. It is an amazing and inspirational story that shows the difference teachers can make. I think this movies can stand the test with other great movies, that it was done with no grandstanding effects visually to enhance the story.
2. V for Vendetta
"Remember Remember the Fifth of November..." I have always felt an understanding and relation for the rebelliousness or active fight against things that are unjust or wrong, and this movie gets me entertained and primed for action against any wrong doing. The story line of this movie is along with stuff similar to Orwell's "1984." Where we live in a society that is creating a divide between the average people and those in power. The fact that "V", the main character, fights back and challenges the average people to see the unjust and demand a change is what I find to make this movie one of my all time favorites.
3. Unthinkable
This movie is down right bone chilling for me. The plot is that there has been a terrorist threat by a member of some extremist group and that he has created three nuclear bombs and planted the three nuclear bombs in different major cities. He tells the U.S. this by creating a video tape showing him planting the actual bombs. The movie follows a special agent in the FBI beginning the manhunt for the person while news casts and the entire nation begins a manhunt for the person from the video. However the special agent is requested a run down high school, and meets with a special interrogator and realizes that the person of interest has already been caught. The special interrogator is Samuel L. Jackson and he goes about trying to uncover the location of the bombs in very "Unthinkable Manners," I don't want to ruin the movie for those who haven't seen it, but the movie took my breath away. The story line is so detailed and horrendous, and the fact that it's an actual possibility is what makes the movie incredible.
V for Vendetta is an amazing movie!
DeleteI like that you made a similarity between George Orwell and the movie because George Orwell is one of my favorite authors. Most of his writings have to do with political and social events.
You should read Keep the Aspidistra Flying by Orwell.
I love your first two choices! Stand and Deliver is such a great movie and V for Vendetta is really one that makes you think. Your last choice is not one I have seen or heard but sounds like a good choice as well
DeleteI believe that my two favorite movies are the most amazing movies ever. Blood and Blood out and Law Abiding Citizen are movies with a lot of action, violence and comedy. Blood and Blood out and Law Abiding Citizen are movies that I could sit and watch all day long without getting bored of them. I don’t believe that they are the best movies for a lot of people because they don’t enjoy what a true drama/action movie has to offer. I wouldn’t pick any other movies to win the best movie award. Both of these movies keep you in suspense and that’s what makes you love the movie even more. Once the climax of the movie comes towards the end the suspense keeps you tied to the movie giving you the best movie experience. I don’t think there are any movies that could top and Blood out and Law Abiding Citizen however, I do wish there was a part two to both. I hope they do decide to make a second part. Last but not lease “Grown up’s” is a really good movie it’s not among my favorite ones yet I believe it has potential to be in the top of the list. Grown up’s is a really funny movie and also sad. After a basketball coach passes away his team reunites to honor him and remember the good times they used to have when they were young.
ReplyDeleteQuote: “You cant skin Grizz, Pilgrim?”
ReplyDeleteThe movie Jeremiah Johnson is one of the best movies made. I like it because it doesn't have very much dialogue and it’s kind of almost like a silent movie to some respect. I’ve always thought that I could make it as a Mountain Man, and this movie really shows how harsh it was to live out in the elements and have to contend with nature, indians, Bears, Wolves, etc.. To top off my likes, the movie is that its actually based on a real person, John “Liver Eatin” Johnson, who lived in Utah.

Top Gun ranks among my list of all time best movies. I haven't met a person that cant at least recite one quote from that movie. I admit that the movie doesn't really have a very exciting story line. What makes the whole movie great is the shots of all the ariel footage and the ability to pull hundreds of quotes out of the movie and use them while at work or horsing around with your buddies. Couldn't have made a better movies for kids in 1986.

From Dust to Glory is my last of the top three movies of all time. This movie makes the top not because of special affects or because there was a ton of money put into it. This a raw film of exactly whats it like to be a racer. I follows Super Cross Legend Mouse McCoy through the Baja 1000. It took 50 cameras to keep up with him and several helicopters to document the actual race to make a action adventure documentary. This makes the top because it real and his life is on the line for the entire 1000 miles of the race. If you have never races and want to feel what its like to race then this is a must watch movie.
I would have to say A Walk to Remember, The Help, and The Notebook are my top three favorite movies.
ReplyDeleteI think that A Walk to Remember is one of the best movies of all time because it is romantic, drama filled, and an inspiration in knowing that wishes can come true. The movie is centered on two teenagers named Jamie (Mandy Moore) and Landon (Shane West) who are total opposites that end up falling in love with each other. Landon is required to participate in different after school programs so he would not get expelled from school because he pulled a prank on another student that went wrong. While participating in one of those after school activities, which was the drama club, he encounters Jamie which he turns to to help him learn his characters lines. Landon ends up falling in love with Jamie after he saw how beautiful she really was while performing in the play and from then on he tries to get closer to her. Jamie had told Landon that she has a list of things that she wants to do and he starts to make those things come true while trying to show her that he likes her. Jamie ends up falling in love with Landon however there is a bump in the early part of their relationship, which is that she has leukemia that she feels prevents them from continuing on. Landon still wants to be with her and continues to make her wishes come true that are on her list. They end up getting married and then Jamie eventually dies soon after. I thought the actors in this movie played the characters really well and I loved how they portrayed that love can change someone. This movie is a movie that I could never get tired of watching and it really should be considered one of the best movies of all time.
I chose The Help because the movie draws the viewer in with all the sadness, triumphs, and happiness that is displayed throughout the lives of the characters. The movie is about Eugenia also known as Skeeter who writes a book that is through the eyes of maids in the 1960s that shows the racism that they are subjected to by working for white families. Skeeter is able to write the book by interviewing actual maids. She had to do it secretly for the maids could get in a lot trouble as well as get fired. The movie was really good at showing the racism that colored people in the 1960s had to deal with by their employers. The actresses in the movie such as Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Jessica Chastain were all great at playing each of their characters and they made the movie very entertaining.
I had to put The Notebook on my list of top three favorite movies. I know this movie is a chick flick however I just love it. Every time I watch it I cry as if it was the first time I seen the movie, which is what I love about it. I feel like every time I watch it I discover something new about it. It is about two teenagers named Noah and Allie who are different by the type of families they come from. Allie’s family is wealthy while Noah’s is not. They fall in love right away after meeting each other, but then Allie’s parents decide that they do not want them dating so they move back to their home town. Noah would write Allie every day, but her mother never gave her any of the letters. One day when Allie was trying on wedding dresses she sees a picture of Noah in the newspaper and she goes back to Seabrook to see him. They end up realizing that they never fell out of love with each other. Allie realizes that she wants Noah and ends up having to break up with her fiancée. The movie is based on a true story and the movie is narrated by Noah who is now an elderly man living in a nursing home with his wife Allie who has Alzheimer’s disease. Throughout the movie he is reading her their love story while hoping she would remember who he was. The movie was good at capturing the divide in classes in the 1940s. It is an inspiration to see that love conquered the divide in classes.
I love The Notebook! Too many movies to choose from which makes it hard to narrow it down to only 3 of them
DeleteI must be the only one who has not seen The Notebook, but I have heard it is a good movie. My 14 years old cousin has been bugging me to watch the movie with her. Maybe one day I will watch!
DeleteWhile not in my top three, I do think that The Notebook and A Walk to Remember definitely reach to the top of my list as well! They are defintely two that I can watch over and over again!
DeleteI absolutely love The Notebook! I think it is THE best love story out to date.
DeleteI agree with your top three their all within my favorites too; but I love movies, so, I have an infinite number of favorites because I always add more.
DeleteThis week’s blog entry is an exciting one to talk about because it’s based on movies! Since I am always busy, putting in a movie is not only the best pass time, but it helps me regain my insanity back. Narrowing it down to my top three movies is a hard one because I love all types of movies. I’m a sucker for romantic movies but I also enjoy comedies, and even action movies.
ReplyDeleteThe first movie I would choose would be Scarface (1983). This movie tells a story about a determined Cuban immigrant (Al Pacino who plays Tony Montana) works his way up the drug chain and eventually takes over a drug cartel that is centered on the booming drug of choice-cocaine. In the mist of his determination of being the ultimate drug lord, he succumbs too much greed, exemplifying that more is always better. This movie portrays many issues that the U.S. faces all the time, immigration, money, drugs, and crime to say the least. I can watch this movie (and I have) over and over because it is a classic!
The second movie would be The Hangover (2009). I know this movie is so cliché but every time I watch this movie, it is as if I am watching it for the first time! This movie is a Las Vegas set comedy centered around three groomsmen who go to Las Vegas for a Bachelor party and lose the groom. During their drunken adventures, they must retrace their steps in order to find the groom and along the way they stumble into many events that will lead the way to finding their friend. This is a great comedy movie that will keep you laughing the whole time. The Hangover Part III is coming out this month and I cannot wait to go and see it!
Lastly the movie Taken (2008) is one of my all time action thriller films! Starring Liam Neeson, who plays former CIA operative, tracks down his daughter after she is kidnapped by human traffickers during her stay in Paris. Besides the fact that I love every movie with Liam Neeson, this movie is an awesome movie. The determination of a father who does not lose hope in finding his daughter! Taken 2 is now out and I cannot wait to put my feet up, grab some popcorn, and watch it!
I chose the Hangover as well. I felt it was an instant classic and no matter how much you watch it, you will always laugh. I didn't know part 3 is coming out this month, I'm going to have to go watch it!
DeleteI just saw Taken for the first time last weekend (it was on TV). Loved it!
DeleteI like watching different types of movies. I find myself watching more kid type of movies since I had my girls. The last movie we watched at the movie theatre was The Croods. We normally have movie night on Fridays and will watch a movie of their choice on Netflix. When I do watch a movie without my kids I prefer drama and comedy. Sometimes it is hard to watch a movie that I have read the book on because it does not follow the book. It will miss some of the main points of the book or change the events on it. The three favorite movies I like to watch over and over again are The Patriot with Mel Gibson, Breakfast Club, and Bridesmaid.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite movie is The Patriot directed by Roland Emmirich starring Mel Gibson. It is an American historical war movie about the American Revolutionary War. The reason I love the movie is level a parent will go when their family is threatened. I like the action it provides with the battles and the ending of the movie.
The Breakfast Club is a great movie about five kids who serve their Saturday in detention. They are all members of a different clique in high school. They have find out about each other’s home life and realize how they miss judged them because of the stereotype. During the movie they find ways to distract the principal, so that they can have some fun in detention. At the end of detention, they form some sort of friendship.
Bridesmaid has been one of the funnies movies I have seen. I can watch this movie over and over again. It still makes me laugh like the first time I seen it. It reminds me of my group of friends. There is always a song that makes us sing with all of our force and will make us feel good after the song is over. It offers some romance and drama in the movie. Every scene in the movie will make you laugh.
I love to watch movies and it’s been really hard to narrow down my top picks of all time. I would have to say that my top 3 movies of all time are Inception, The Help, and The Freedom Writer’s
ReplyDelete1. Inception- This movie with Leonardo DiCaprio is very interesting, because it is a Sci-Fi thriller that really plays with the mind. In order to get the concept of the movie you have to play real close attention. It has a great story line with unexpected turns and twist. I also feel it doesn’t end with a conclusion to the movie. It is up to the viewers to interpret the ending of the movie, which is different from most movies of the time.
2. The Help- The Help is such a great movie that talks about social issues of the past and how the courage of one writer changed things. Skeeter is the main character of the movie she is a journalist who befriends two black-maids and decides to write a book on their experiences on what it is really like to work for a white family in the civil rights era. It is a bold movie that has a good moral and makes one wonder why the society of the past was so openly racist and unaccepting to people who did not share their skin color. Addressing these past social issues really makes this one of my nominees.
3. The Freedom Writer’s- This movie is about a new teacher in an urban city at a troubled school that tries to reach out to a group of at risk youth. She is met with opposition from the students as well as other faculty members. It is an inspiring movie because she is a hard working teacher trying to make a difference in her students’ lives when other people had basically given up on them. Her determination to inspire these students is what really makes it one of the best movies of all time.
I would have to say that my top three movie choices would be The Breakfast Club, Mean Girls, and Chocolat.
ReplyDeleteThe Breakfast Club pobably doesn't need that much defending as it is a pretty popular movie among multiple generations of people. If I were to focus on one thing about this movie that makes it great, I would have to focus on the low-budget. Besides the five students, the teacher, and the janitor, we only see a handful of other characters. This means that this epic movie had a cast of only about ten people. On top of that, the entire film takes place at one setting; the school. The point is, the directors took a handful of people, stuck them in one place, and made an entire movie that was incredible and loved by a large variety of people. How many other movies can you think of that have accomplished the same thing?
Mean Girls was my next choice. While I know that there are many people that love this movie, I will admit that this is more of a guilty pleasure than one that actually belongs on a list of the greatest movies. I still love it though!
Chocolat is a movie that everyone should see at some point in life. This movie, while not as well known, is beautifully put together and carries amazing lessons. Set in a small town in France, a young girl and her mother move in and open a chocolate shop. These two are different than others in town due to their lifestyle and beliefs, and despite the fact that they are shunned by many in town, they continue to attempt to befriend and help the towns people. This movie teaches the importance of stepping outside of your own comfort zone and not only accepting the differences in others, but truly celebrating that diversity. It is a must see film!
My top 3 movies are Saving Private Ryan, The Hangover, and Dante's Inferno: The Divine Comedy.
ReplyDeleteSaving Private Ryan is one of the top films period. It might as well be one of the best war stories and films ever created. I picked this film to be my top film of all-time because it's during World War II, a time we are all to familiar with and we are also familiar with the countless lives lost during this war. This story shows portrays epic bravery, heroism, fearlessness, camaraderie, and strong leadership. i first saw this movie when I was younger and I felt it helped me show what war is like and the many circumstances soldiers had to go through at the time. It also had a great moral to the story and it helped young people like myself respect our veterans who served for our country. I believe this is a great movie to show children because it gives a sense of realism to war as well as helps the youth learn from the past and respect the past for what it is.
My second pick was The Hangover. I feel this doesn't belong on the all-time best list but rather it belongs in a category for best modern comedy. This movie is an instant classic and even it's sequel couldn't live up to the first one. I liked this movie because the movie doesn't lack in outrageous comedy and it's very unpredictable. The whole saying, "What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas", is the theme to this movie and very well deserving. If you are looking for a comedy this is it. It's packed with non-stop humor.
My third overall pick was an off-the-wall movie called Dante's Inferno: The Divine Comedy (2007). This movie is really different and is in a class of it's own. The movie is an animation type (not anime) done with paper puppets. It's based of the classic books made hundreds of years ago and is about a man who goes into hell and meets all sorts of people and finds out why they are there. It's a very neat movie because it can give a little insight into sins and what's right versus wrong. I also liked the movie because it's very strange and innovative.
I love the Hangover!!! I definitely agree that its sequel cannot beat its first one, although they are very funny as well!!!!
DeleteYou summed it up very well on your thoughts of Saving Private Ryan. I would have to agree with you on how good of a movie it is. Movies are the best way to try to explain war or to get some to come close to the experience. But its never a horrific as it is in real life.
DeleteMy top three movies of all time would have to include: Armageddon, Titanic, and Hunger Games. The reasons I choose these are the script was very well written and the movies were really well directed. I can’t help but cry every single time I watch each of these movies. I love these movies because they bring you into the movie itself, sort of like your part of the movie. Another reason would be because at some points of these movies you find yourself rooting for the characters to succeed. I think they cast these movies well too because I genuinely feel for them; for example, in Armageddon when the dad is saying goodbye to his daughter right before he has to go out to the meteor to set off the bomb. I cry every single time they really make you feel what they’re feeling. And in Titanic when Leonardo tells Rose that she’s going to live a long and happy life surrounded by family and grandchildren and that he will never let her go. I got so angry when she let go and also because they could’ve found another piece of anything for him to get on so they would both survive. And in Hunger games there were a couple of parts that struck me; for example: when she volunteers to save her sister, another when she creates that beautiful bed of flowers for the little girl, and last but not least when they’re willing to sacrifice themselves, even though deep down I think she knew they would not allow that to happen because they cannot have no survivor (winner).
ReplyDeleteBut I will give you my personal favorites which include: Twilight Saga, Fast and the Furious(all 6) because you know #6 will be awesome , Ocean’s Eleven( all three) I love movies about really elaborate crimes, Gone in 60 seconds, Italian Job, and . Oh, I must of watch these movies over 50 times I actually wore out the DVD’s and had to buy new copies.
Oh, I love all three of these movies also! They are all so tragic and gripping.
DeleteWow, this was a hard topic to post about! There are so many great movies to choose from.
ReplyDeleteThe first one, Anne of Green Gables, was my favorite childhood movie. Anne (with an E!) Shirley is a spunky, red-haired orphan girl who is adopted by Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert (an elderly brother and sister who live in Avonlea, on Prince Edwards Island). She speaks her mind (which quite often gets her in trouble), and winds up in many awkward situations. She is a very endearing and lovable character.
13 Going on 30 with Jennifer Garner is an adorably funny movie. A young girl is dissatisfied with her life as a 13 year old and wishes she was a 30 year old beautiful, successful woman. Overnight, she transforms into her 30 year old self and has many mishaps and adventures as she attempts to figure out how to live as a 13 year old stuck in a 30 year olds world.
Hitch with Will Smith and Kevin James is hilarious! I love the comedic relationship between Hitch (Will Smith) and Kevin James' character. James is a very physically funny actor and can make me laugh in whatever role he plays.
I love all three :)
DeleteMy husband and I watch alot of movies but for me i like love stories and I usually limit myself to them. However, I do occasionally enjoy watching actions, thrillers, and comedies. Okay my best movies of all times list is as follows; 1.) P.S. I Love You, 2.) The Notebook, 3.) Fresh.
ReplyDeleteI chose P.S. I Love You because the feeling of love is so great. And I feel like Hillary Swank portrayed love well. I think the story of losing your love and your love helping you through your loss, even after death is wonderful. Hillary Swank's character evolved so well by the end of the movie that there was no choice to either put yourself in her shoes or think of her as your best friend girl.
The Notebook is by far the best love story. I chose The Notebook because the characters love for one another could be felt through the screen. The actors expressed much chemistry, which made the story of love easier to believe and relate to. The story is of a man who reads the story of their lives together to his wife with dementia. His loyalty, love, and persistence is evident as he reads the story to her. When she remembers who he is, they have the sweetest and deepest moments of love. Their love was so deep they even passed away together. AWESOME!!!
I also chose the movie Fresh as a best movie ever. Fresh is about an inner city boy living in poverty that trys to make it out of the hood with his sister. During his chess lessons with his dad he learns to manipulate others to get the results that he wants. I chose this movie because I find it very interesting that a 13 year old by can out smart many people. It is sad how some children are forced to grow up sooner than they should when they should be having fun instead of making major life decisions.
I love the first two movies also but I haven’t seen the third one I will have to look into that. I agree they are great love stories. I always tear up while watching them.
DeleteI dislike rating movies because many tell good stories, but If i had to choose my top three I would choose End Of Watch (2012), The notebook (2004) and Under The Same Moon (2008).
ReplyDeleteI chose End of Watch (2012) because It deals with our society and gives us a glimpse of the crime we see today. This is an action movie where In this movie two LA police officers record their daily lives at work. We see the type of crime that is going on in Los Angeles; where it focuses on a group of gang members and members of a Mexican cartel. We see the different crimes that are common in society and those that we do not see or hear much of in Bakersfield. I love this movie because it shows us events that actually happen everyday and mostly because it deals with what really goes on in the streets; outside of our homes. This movie brought my interest because its a field I am interested in and would like to take part of one day.
The second movie I chose was The Notebook (2004). I love this movie although it makes me cry every time I watch it. This movie is romantic and tells a story of how two couples met and ended their lives together. Though they both come from different classes (the female from a rich family and the male from a much poorer one) they do not let that get in their way. They're both terribly in love and prove that different classes should not matter; especially in love. I believe this movie is one of my favorites because at a point it related very much to my life. I feel that Nicholas Sparks ( the author) is showing his audience a glimpse of my life; which is my reason for ranking this movie at the top of my favorites.
The last movie I chose was Under The Same Moon (2008). This movie is about undocumented mexicans but focuses on a mother and her child. The mother crosses the Mexican border illegally (leaving her son and mother behind) in order to make a better living for her family. She calls her son to Mexico everyday and describes her daily life and events; including her work experiences. Sadly her sons grandmother passes away and he decides to cross to the United States illegally without his mother knowing. At the end he finds his mother by recognizing the buildings and surroundings his mother would describe to him over the phone. I found this movie very interesting because it tells a story and explains the different experiences of an undocumented family. I have grown around undocumented families and have witnessed many of their hardships and its fascinating to have a movie in the United States that explains why they struggle and how they struggle. It explains and shows the audience that many Undocumented Mexicans are here (In the United Sates) to make better livings for their families.
There are many good movies out there, these are just a few of my favorite but the list can go on and on!
I would choose fast and the furious, step up #2, and King Kong as the greatest movies of all time.
ReplyDeleteThe only reason they kept making more of each was specifically because they were sooo good. Therefore they are eligible to be on the top list. out of all three my favorite is not King Kong but I believe that movie is the greatest of all. The camera action, the story line, the scene effects, the characters and the actors. The life was brought back from that time all in one screen. everything was done correctly I didn't see any errors. The story was led out with no wants for more. Everything was so alive and real. I say Hollywood did an amazing job on that film and should of gotten more recognitions. That's what I call a movie well done. very rare to see happen in this times when its all about how much technology can do. Step up and Fast and the Furious both dispay more of the current times in America. They just created a great story line and brought in the American days. Step up would be the least greatest because it always ends without an ending. It doesn't follow or want to portray an actual film of glory but a film that shows off the human talents. Its like if it is just using the movie industry to get people famous.
